Crackers Safety Tips & Precautions
Festivals are meant for happiness, brightness, and joy. Follow these essential safety guidelines to ensure a safe, joyful, and accident-free celebration with Sai Sivan Crackers.
Do's — Safe Practices
- Read Instructions: Always check the safety instructions, warnings, and duration printed on each cracker packaging before lighting.
- Buy Genuine Crackers: Purchase directly from authorized Sivakasi manufacturers or licensed dealers with verified quality.
- Use Long Incense Sticks (Agarbatti): Light crackers from an arm's distance using sparklers or agarbatti rather than open matchsticks or lighters.
- Open Outdoor Spaces: Burst crackers only in wide open outdoor areas far away from flammable objects, dry leaves, and vehicles.
- Keep Water & Sand Nearby: Always keep a bucket of clean water or sand ready near the bursting spot in case of emergency.
- Wear Cotton Clothes: Wear fitted cotton garments and secure footwear while handling crackers to prevent accidental spark catching.
- Adult Supervision: Ensure children are always under active adult supervision when lighting sparklers or ground chakkars.
Don'ts — Hazards to Avoid
- Never Relight Misfires: Never attempt to re-ignite, pick up, or examine crackers that did not burst or ignite on the first try.
- Never Use Glass or Metal: Never burst bombs or rockets inside glass bottles, tin cans, or metal boxes, as flying shrapnel is dangerous.
- Never Throw at People: Never point, throw, or aim crackers towards other persons, pets, trees, or residential windows.
- No Synthetic Clothing: Avoid wearing loose-fitting synthetic, nylon, or silk garments that catch fire easily.
- Do Not Carry in Pockets: Never store or carry crackers inside trouser or shirt pockets. Store them in a cool, dry place away from heat.
- No Indoor Bursting: Never burst any type of crackers inside houses, balconies, staircases, or closed rooms.
- Proper Used Disposal: Submerge all used and burnt crackers in a bucket of water before disposing to avoid smoldering fires.
